An Unintended Career
My story begins 35 years ago. I began my career as an a watercolor/acrylic painter. At that time, I met a woman who was making jewelry and had met with great success. I was intrigued by the possibilities of this medium. I threw myself into this new form and never looked back. I began small and a little fearful. I started by painting miniature Van Gogh and Monet paintings as small pins that sold to museums. From there I moved on to making necklaces, earrings and bracelets. A jewelry rep came across my jewelry and inquired if I could make jewelry to match the clothing lines she was representing. In time, I had nine sales reps selling my jewelry across the country. What started so small grew and grew. After 35 years I still love designing and making jewelry. Over that time I have stumbled upon beautiful gemstones and beads and have had the chance to meet exciting and creative people from around the world. To some, my modest studio may seem cluttered. For me, however, it is a space where I can be creative and surrounded by beauty. My mother was an active artist and teacher into her 80's. I hope I can continue creating as long as she did; I intend to practice my art for years to come in her spirit.
Museums and boutiques are among those representing her work. View some of the pieces here.
Museums carrying her work include:
DeYoung Art Museum – San Francisco California
Fine Arts Museum – Boston, Massachusetts
Morse Museum – Winter Park, Florida
San Jose Museum of Art – San Jose, California
My work is also in boutiques throughout the continetal United States. Hawaii, Alaska, England and Greece.
